We are currently looking to recruit a salaried General Practitioner into our Hywel Dda University Health Board managed practice, Meddygfa Penrhyn/Peninsula Practice, Solva. The Practice joined the Hywel Dda University Health Board portfolio of Managed Practices from 1 April 2023, following the resignation of the GMS contract. This is an opportunity to join a circa 4,800 patient Practice. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes other GP's, Nurse/Paramedic Practitioners, Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician support as well as experienced and well established nursing and administrative teams. The Health Board is committed to multi-disciplinary team working and will be looking to expand the team further in the coming months.
We are looking for a Salaried GP to join our team to provide leadership as well as a clinical commitment and can offer a mix of face-to-face consultations, telephone triage and remote consultations. The Practice uses E-Consult and has signed up to Workflow Optimisation. You will be part of the wider Health Board GP team and have the opportunity to participate in a monthly Journal Club and have peer support through the Deputy Medical Director's team, as well as from your salaried GP peers and from the Primary Care Cluster Locality Lead. There is the opportunity for training and development in any areas of specialist interest.
Main Duties of the Job
- To provide, as part of a core multi-disciplinary team, a high quality general medical service to the registered patients of the practice (including temporary residents).
- To provide consultation and appropriate clinical management of patients attending the practice, or to those where a home visit is clinically necessary.
- To provide leadership, clinical oversight and direction to the rest of the clinical team.
- To provide telephone and/or virtual consultation and appropriate management of patients who contact the practice, where necessary.
- To undertake telephone triage as and when necessary.
- To keep accurate and legible records of all patient contacts and contribute to electronic data recording and audit as directed by the service.

Qualifications and Knowledge
- Essential: Entry on the GP Register, Full registration and a License to Practice with the General Medical Council, MRCGP Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice / Certificate Confirming Eligibility for General Practice Registration (CEGPR), or equivalent, Included on a Medical Performers List or eligible, Evidence of continuous professional development, Conducting sessions in a General Practice Setting.
- Desirable: Additional Higher qualification(s).
Clinical Experience
- Essential: Broad based experience within the specialty area, Able to demonstrate core competencies and clinical skills relevant to the post, Experience of leading a team.
- Desirable: Previous experience working in the UK or NHS.
Teaching
- Essential: Ability to critically assess learning requirements for self and others, Evidence of organising programmes and teaching all staff groups, Willingness to teach all grades of professional multidisciplinary staff.
- Desirable: Teaching qualification.
Research and Scholarship
- Essential: Demonstrates knowledge of current research and best practice in the specialty area, Evidence of keeping up to date with current research and best practice, Evidence of locating and using clinical guidelines appropriately, Evidence of communicating and interpreting research evidence in a meaningful way.
