A rewarding opportunity has arisen for a Nursing Support Worker at Ward 10, Withybush General Hospital, Haverfordwest. Ward 10 Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Nursing Support Worker (NSW) play a vital role in delivering safe, compassionate, and high-quality care to patients with cancer, haematological conditions, and specialist palliative care needs.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the NSW supports Registered Nurses, Doctors, and Allied Health Professionals in the assessment, monitoring, and delivery of patient-centred care. The role involves providing practical and emotional support to patients and their families throughout their treatment journey, promoting comfort, dignity, and wellbeing while ensuring care is delivered in accordance with professional standards and organisational values.
The post holder contributes to delivering holistic care that addresses the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of patients, particularly those receiving complex treatments or end-of-life care. The role requires excellent communication skills, empathy, compassion, and a commitment to providing high-quality care to individuals with complex and often life-limiting conditions. The NSW is an integral member of the Ward 10 team, helping to ensure patients receive safe, effective, and dignified care throughout their hospital stay.
Main duties of the job include:
- Learning new skills and gaining further experience in caring for acutely unwell Oncology, Palliative and Haematology patients while developing professionally within a positive and challenging environment.
- Undertaking delegated clinical observations and communicating effectively.
The Ward operates a rotational shift pattern of 11.5 hour long days and nights, 7.5 hour earlies and lates in order to meet the service requirements. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
