Fixed Term/Secondment vacancy until 31/08/2026. This role is only open to staff currently employed by Hywel Dda University Health Board. The successful candidate will be seconded into the position of District Nurse Team Leader for the Fishguard District Nursing Team, with the possibility of working across North and South Pembrokeshire.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with a Specialist Practice Award in District Nursing (post‑graduate qualification).
- Either hold or be willing to pursue a relevant Masters qualification.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a busy district nursing team.
- Excellent communication, organisational and people‑management skills.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate the Health Board’s values of dignity, respect, fairness, integrity, honesty, openness and caring in all aspects of work.
- Accountably manage the district nursing caseload, leading and developing the core nursing establishment to deliver compassionate, high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
- Provide visible and professional nursing leadership, support, supervision and guidance in line with NMC standards.
- Give expert clinical advice/intervention on specialist complex issues within the field.
- Oversee management and monitoring activities in accordance with legal and professional requirements, statutory rules and Health Board policies relating to evidence‑based practice.
- Efficiently manage the allocated budget, deploy the nursing team, utilise resources and raise any financial expenditure concerns to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
- Ensure the complex needs of patients with multiple pathologies and their families are addressed sensitively and empathically, supporting the assessment, implementation and re‑evaluation of continuing health care packages.
