Experienced Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Dietitian

This is a fixed‑term/secondment post for 11 months until 30/10/2026 due to the needs of the service. If you are a Hywel Dda University Health Board employee applying as a secondment, agreement from your current manager is required prior to application.

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic Dietitian with excellent team‑working skills who is experienced in supporting individuals with mental illness and/or learning disabilities. The role offers the opportunity to work as part of a specialist team, engage in clinical supervision and training, and develop your skill set.

The post holder will support service users across mental health and learning disabilities services with a range of conditions, working within a uni‑professional and multi‑professional team. Training and education will be a central part of the role, as well as supporting student training and developing our Dietetic Support Worker roles.

The work is predominantly on‑site, with hybrid arrangements possible.

  • Manage a complex and varied caseload of patients as a specialist mental health and learning disability dietitian.
  • Use specialist dietetic knowledge and skills to assess, plan, implement treatment and deliver dietetic interventions in community, outpatient, hospital and group settings, in line with patient, family and carers’ needs.
  • Provide education, training and expert support to develop the diet and nutrition knowledge and skills of others working with people with mental health needs and/or learning disabilities.
  • Actively contribute to the development, evaluation and improvement of dietetic and mental health services, and support the implementation of policy, guidance and standards.
