The Macmillan Acute Oncology Nursing Service is a well‑established service within Hywel Dda University Health Board. We are looking for a motivated Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team, providing expert clinical care for patients admitted with complications of anti‑cancer treatment, complications of malignancy or a new diagnosis of malignancy during emergency admissions.
Location and Working Pattern: The base of the role is at Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen, with flexible working across three sites: Withybush General Hospital, Glangwili General Hospital and Prince Philip Hospital. Occasional work on the oncology and haematology SACT cancer treatment triage line is expected.
Key Duties:
- Provide specialist nursing advice, guidance, support and leadership for inpatient oncology care.
- Deliver specialist education and training to staff.
- Work autonomously and manage own workload effectively.
- Lead multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to service development.
- Operate within the Health Board’s priority, confidentiality and quality frameworks.
Qualifications:
- Registered Clinical Nurse Specialist or equivalent Band 7 nursing role.
- Proven experience in acute oncology nursing.
- Excellent communication and IT skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, be organised, and enthusiastic.
- Welsh language skills desirable, but English proficiency required.
