The Clinical Lead for Obstetrics and Gynaecology will be a highly skilled and experienced medical practitioner currently working as a Consultant or SAS doctor, and ideally currently delivering care in an Obstetrics & Gynaecology setting.
The candidate will be:
- Enthusiastic, approachable and a team player with a proven track record of innovation and service improvement.
- Able to lead multi-professional groups and demonstrate the ability to uphold the Health Board values.
- Instrumental in the design, development and implementation of the TUEC programme across the Health Board.
- Working to deliver clinical excellence and improve health outcomes.
- Required to work across the organisation working with all specialities, primary care, community services and the third sector providing advice and support about obstetrics and gynaecology.
- Instrumental in co-designing new clinical pathways using quality improvement principles.
- Focused on developing effective governance structures, audit processes using evidence-based practice, policies and guidelines.
Main duties of the job:
- To ensure the provision and delivery of a first class clinical service.
- To provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty.
- To sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate.
- To undertake all work in accordance with the Health Board’s procedures and operating policies.
- To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Health Board’s service plans.
- To maintain the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty or the Health Board.
Core clinical expertise in Obstetrics & Gynaecology:
- Experience and knowledge of running a sub specialty service.
- Leadership and team building skills as well as working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Supporting and training multidisciplinary teams.
- Delivering care in the community alongside primary health care and social care teams.
- Participating in CPD including Audit.
- You are expected to maintain your professional development for Revalidation.
- A Teaching and Training Role for medical undergraduates and postgraduates.
- Educational Supervisor role to Junior and Middle Grade Medical Staff.
- To undertake regular multidisciplinary clinical audit and provide evidence based medicine.
