We’re looking for an enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills across a diverse adult caseload, working in a supportive, forward-thinking service. You’ll gain experience in both acute and community settings, working with individuals and groups, and as part of specialist multidisciplinary teams. The successful post-holder will work as part of the Adult Speech and Language Therapy Service and will have regular access to senior colleagues. We are a friendly and dynamic team who offer Continuing Professional Development, clinical and managerial supervision, and encourage staff to actively engage with service development and improvement. There is a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary team working throughout the Health Board and the Speech and Language Therapy Department has close support networks with other hospital teams and Community based services. We welcome applications from newly qualified therapists (or those about to qualify), as well as experienced clinicians looking to continue or return to practice.
Main duties
- The post holder will provide a Speech & Language Therapy Service for adults in the nominated locality who have communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
- The post-holder will be supported to manage a caseload of adult clients, using evidence based/client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in community and acute settings.
- They will also contribute to key service developments, both within Speech & Language Therapy, and across professions and agencies.
- Manage the day to day prioritisation and administration of a specific caseload, adhering to deadlines, and advising the team leader on issues of service delivery, including shortfalls and service pressures.
- Plan, organise and run daily clinics/in-patient sessions/home visits.
- Provide advice to others regarding the management and care of patients with communication and/or swallowing difficulties.
- Organise the day to day tasks of Speech & Language Therapy Assistant(s) and volunteers.

- 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers.
- Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services.
