This is a 15 hour permanent post based in Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen. Shifts are over 2 days Monday‑Friday with no night duty required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence‑based nursing care for women requiring colposcopy, hysteroscopy and other minor gynaecological procedures.
  • Assist in the management and organisation of the clinical area, participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.
  • Organise colposcopy clinics, prioritise and reorganise as appropriate; attend nurse‑led clinics and be present throughout colposcopy and treatment procedures.
  • Support junior colleagues in the provision of direct care.
  • Carry out procedures as a registered CSW sample taker.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
  • Apply the Fundamentals of Care principles to ensure high‑quality service for service users.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and agencies such as Cervical Screening Wales, especially in relation to ongoing care needs.
  • Provide a contact number for patient enquiries within and outside normal clinic time.
  • Act independently within the health board and professional guidelines, referring to supervisory management when appropriate; responsible for the management of the ward/department and its resources in absence of ward sister or deputy.
  • Ensure all resources in the area are used to optimum effect and that mandatory training is up to date.
  • Adhere to health board policies, written guidelines and procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Registered with the NMC and act in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct.
  • Has freedom to act and works within established parameters, managing work rather than being supervised.
  • Registered CSW sample taker or willing to obtain the qualification.
