This post is a Fixed Term/Secondment until 28/08/2027.

The Difficult Asthma Clinic in Hywel Dda continues to support increasing numbers of patients needing biologic therapy.

To consider how we expand this service and support people needing biologic therapy we are looking for a motivated pharmacy technician to join the service for a 12 month secondment, working 15 hours a week.

The role will work closely with the clinical pathway coordinator, the asthma specialist nurse, and the lead asthma respiratory physician to deliver a quality service for people living with difficult asthma.

Main Duties

  • Deliver a high‑quality, patient‑centred service for individuals living with difficult asthma.
  • Contribute to medicines reconciliation, support safe and effective prescribing, provide advice to patients and healthcare professionals, and ensure timely supply of medication.
  • Coordinate the supply of biologic therapies in partnership with the Homecare team, discuss patient preferences and proactively address any supply issues.
  • Counsel patients on potential adverse drug reactions and other considerations relating to biologic treatments, both within face‑to‑face and virtual clinic settings.
  • Liaise closely with clinical colleagues to coordinate care, resolve medication‑related issues, and support discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate records, update patient outcome data, track active patients via service spreadsheets, and contribute to ongoing monitoring and service evaluation.
