Applications are invited from efficient and suitably qualified individuals for the post of a full‑time, Band 3 Clinical Secretary within the Department of Cellular Pathology at Glangwili General Hospital on a permanent basis.
Job Summary
Experience of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e‑mail, coupled with proven secretarial skills (including audio typing skills) and previous experience of medical terminology is essential.
Main Duties
Working 37.5 hours per week, the successful candidate will undertake a wide range of duties appropriate to the post, supporting Consultants and their teams with a comprehensive and quality secretarial service.
- Audio transcription and typing of highly sensitive letters and reports, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Operation of the Health Board's patient database system.
- Demonstrate excellent organisational skills, flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing work demands.
- Work independently, use tact and diplomacy, and possess excellent communication skills.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential
- RSA Stage 3 or equivalent level of competency in Word Processing and Audio Transcription.
- Knowledge of a range of routine secretarial procedures.
- Knowledge of software programmes – e.g. Microsoft packages, e‑mail, Internet, and databases.
- 5 GCSEs or equivalent.
- Proof of appropriate Continuous Professional Development.
Desirable
- NVQ Level II Administration.
- Working towards a medical terminology qualification.
- Knowledge of LIMS computer system.
Experience
Essential
- Previous secretarial and/or administration experience.
- Health Service experience – familiar with the use of medical terms.
Other

- Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner.
- Flexible approach to the needs of the service.
