The post holder will support the Lead Practice Educator to implement the education plan for theatre services. They will ensure service delivery is of a high professional standard in line with Local Organisational and National and Regulatory guidelines. As a professional Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner (ODP), the Clinical Practice Educator is responsible for the provision of specialist advice, precision, accuracy and prolonged concentration to patients, nursing and medical staff when providing theatre related pre, peri and post-operative care and education within the theatre environment. You will work alongside theatre practitioners clinically to provide education within the theatre environment. The Clinical Practice Educator will work autonomously as a specialist and accessible professional role model for registered nurses (RN), operating department practitioners (ODP), nursing support workers (NSW) and theatre support staff groups.

Main duties of the job:

  • Support in creating an active learning culture for all staff.
  • Work with the lead practice educator to formulate plans for meeting clinical educational needs of individuals or a group.
  • Facilitate the delivery and evaluation of formal / informal teaching sessions and collaborate with stakeholders for work-based learning programmes including software programmes.
  • Support with initiatives that result in changes to existing practice and systems of working that require change in line with national and professional standards.
  • Support the development and update of training induction programmes which support the development of RN's, ODP's, NSW's and theatre support staff groups.
  • Identify skills and knowledge gaps and provide appropriate feedback to support progress.
  • To ensure Theatre remains an innovative practice learning environment, support the University students ensuring they are supervised by designated staff in line with NMC and HCPC requirements.
  • Support the allocation and development of all new starters and novice learners ensuring the timely completion of induction workbooks and reviews, liaising with the line managers and senior leads for theatre.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services.
