This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and knowledgeable practitioner to provide high‑quality, evidence‑based nursing care to patients with urological conditions. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised patient care across the urology pathway and work with a degree of autonomy to support patients, families and the multidisciplinary team, contributing to safe, effective, and timely care. This is a fixed‑term secondment vacancy until 20/12/26.
Responsibilities:
- Support the nurse‑led diagnostic service with clinics such as flow rates, trial without catheters, teaching intermittent self‑catheterisation, urodynamic assessments and multidisciplinary team clinics.
- Provide specialist, evidence‑based nursing care to patients diagnosed with or undergoing investigation and treatment for urological cancers, ensuring a holistic and person‑centred approach throughout the cancer pathway.
- Act as a key worker for patients with urology cancer, coordinating care, providing continuity, and supporting patients and carers from diagnosis through treatment, follow‑up, and survivorship or palliative care as appropriate.
- Undertake comprehensive clinical assessments and contribute to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised cancer care plans in line with national and local guidelines.
- Provide specialist information, advice, and emotional support to patients and families, supporting informed decision‑making and shared care planning.
- Work autonomously within scope of practice to manage a specialist urology cancer caseload, prioritising workload according to clinical need and pathway targets.
- Ensure all practice complies with national cancer standards, local policies, and governance requirements, maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation.
