We are looking for an enthusiastic Appointments Officer and Radiology Office Manager to join the Radiology department based in Glangwili Hospital. This is a permanent, 37.5 hours per week post. The Radiology Department at Glangwili Hospital is a busy and varied department. Working with us, you will be supported and encouraged to reach your full potential within the team. The Department provides a range of diagnostic imaging services to the community.

Main duties of the job

As part of the clerical team, you are the first person that our service users encounter. Therefore, you must possess excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to prioritise your workload and meet deadlines. The position involves a range of clerical duties, including meeting and greeting the service users at the reception area, booking appointments and any other clerical duties required to provide the best service possible for the service users and community. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties. We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services. We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.

  • Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest
  • Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
  • Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
  • 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
  • Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • RSA/OCR level 3 or equivalent demonstrable experience of typing
  • Experience of working in an administrative / office environment.
  • Knowledge of Medical / Healthcare Terminology
  • Working knowledge of Radiology IT software systems
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Experience

  • Experience of hospital-based IT Systems
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, desktop publishing and e-mail)
  • Experience of working in a busy complex environment
  • Previous experience of handling verbally aggressive calls from members of the public
  • Hospital or other NHS experience.
  • Experience of Radiology based IT Systems
