We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative pharmacist to join our expanding non-medical Cancer Services team. The successful candidate will need to have a flexible approach to work, be organised, be able to align their values with those of the organisation, work well within a multidisciplinary team and have a positive attitude.
Cancer is one of the most diverse and exciting disciplines in pharmacy, with a multidisciplinary and innovative approach to patient care and delivery of services. Our prescribing pharmacists currently work within uro-oncology, breast, lung, upper-GI and colorectal cancer and are well respected within the Health Board and Southwest Wales Cancer Network for their expertise and hard work. We are looking for another high calibre pharmacist to further complement the team.
This post is focused around the needs of adult cancer patients in Ceredigion. The post holder will prescribe and manage systemic anti-cancer therapies (SACT) across a range of solid tumours, comprising principally of prostate and breast cancer. The post will provide the Health Board with both a lead clinical pharmacy practitioner and independent pharmacist prescriber for Ceredigion.
Main duties:- Responsible for delivering a safe, efficient and accurate pharmacy service to adult cancer outpatients within the directorate.
- Work as an Independent Prescriber (IP) in pharmacist-led outpatient clinics – consenting, prescribing and managing Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT) and providing highly specialised advice and counselling to clinicians, patients and their carers.
- Demonstrate an advanced level of patient assessment and sound clinical judgement.
- Develop and maintain clinical, organisational and professional skills as appropriate to carry out the role of a Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) operating as part of the non-medical cancer team at HDUHB.
- Lead a defined aspect of the NMP service in accordance with the directorate's strategic and business plans.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
