We have a vacancy available for a Community Staff Nurse in the Amman/Gwendraeth Community Nursing Team within Hywel Dda University Health Board. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and suitably experienced registered nurse interested in working in the exciting and challenging area of Community Nursing.

Main duties of the job:

  • Experience in Community Nursing is desirable for this post but not essential as training will be provided and the post holder will be supported to develop in the role.
  • This opportunity is suitable for someone who would like to develop their skills and knowledge whilst supported by a friendly and welcoming team.

  • The ability to travel between patients in a timely manner is essential.
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

About us:

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties. We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services. We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.

Our services are provided in:

  • Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest.
  • Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire.
  • Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings.
  • 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers.
  • Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications and Knowledge:
  • Level 1 Registered Nurse (Adult)
  • Current NMC registration
  • Evidence of personal continuing development, statutory and mandatory training
  • Awareness of Health Board policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Ability to relate theory to practice
  • Understanding of primary health care working
  • Post-registration experience in acute services
  • Teaching and assessing
  • Understanding of clinical governance, health & safety, risk management awareness
  • Community experience
  • Willing to undertake further training as necessary
  • Evidence of post-registration education - Diploma / Degree Level
  • Experience:
  • Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge of NMC Code (2018)
  • Able to relate theory to practice through reflective skills
  • Relevant community experience
  • Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge of the community
  • Language Skills:
  • Welsh Speaker (Level 1)
