Bronglais Emergency Department serves a diverse rural and coastal population and sees the full range of presentations—from minor injury to high-acuity emergencies. As a Band 7 Team Leader, you will provide visible, senior clinical leadership and day-to-day operational management on shift. You'll uphold Health Board values, lead safe, high-quality emergency nursing care aligned to RCEM/RCN workforce standards, and work collaboratively with ED medical colleagues, WAST, inpatient teams and community services to optimise patient outcomes and experience.

To provide senior clinical leadership and operational management within the Emergency Department, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care in line with RCEM and RCN workforce standards. The Band 7 Team Leader will oversee the nursing team, coordinate patient flow, and act as a key point of contact for escalation and decision-making.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the ED nursing team on shift, ensuring appropriate skill mix and safe staffing levels.
  • Act as the clinical expert and role model, supporting staff development and maintaining high standards of care.
  • Coordinate patient flow, including triage, streaming, and ambulance handover processes.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation standards, incident reporting, and patient safety protocols.
  • Support implementation of new rosters and workforce changes as per the EUCC NSL operational plan.
  • Liaise with medical staff, allied health professionals, and external partners (e.g., WAST) to optimise patient outcomes.
  • Participate in recruitment, induction, and ongoing training for new staff.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, audits, and service development.
  • Maintain oversight of complaints, incidents, and feedback, ensuring timely resolution and learning.

Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings. 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers.
