An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced pharmacy professional to join our team as a Senior Pharmacy Technician based at Bronglais Pharmacy Department. We are looking for a Pharmacy Technician with significant experience to provide professional and operational leadership. This involves the responsibility for the day-to-day management and effective delivery of a safe, accurate and efficient service across stores, dispensary and procurement. You will deputise for the site Chief Pharmacy Technician as well as line manage and supervise the Pharmacy Technicians and Assistant Technical Officers. You will lead, develop and support the team, contributing to recruitment, workforce planning and performance, whilst promoting a positive and inclusive team environment. You will be expected to manage complex operational issues and ensure compliance with legal, professional and governance standards using performance data and quality improvement methods.

Main duties of the job:

  • To act as the operational Lead Pharmacy Technician, with responsibility for the day-to-day staff line management and effective service delivery within dispensary stores and procurement.
  • To ensure the provision of a safe, accurate, efficient and cost-effective service in line with health board objectives.
  • To provide visible operational leadership to the team, promoting a positive, supportive and inclusive working culture.
  • To contribute to the development, review and implementation of local policies, procedures and standard operating procedures in line with professional standards and Health board governance requirements.

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties. We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services. We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.

Our services are provided in four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest. Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire. Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings. 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 99 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers. Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services.
