An exciting opportunity to join the nursing team at Aberystwyth Eye Centre, Aberystwyth, as a Staff Nurse Band 5. The unit supports ophthalmic outpatient clinics, intravitreal service, and nurse‑led pre‑assessment clinics. This part‑time vacancy is Monday‑Friday. Interviews will be held on 01/07/2026.
Main Duties:
- Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence‑based nursing care to meet the needs of patients and families within the ophthalmic department.
- Undertake training and achieve clinical device competencies for the ophthalmic equipment in the department.
- Work collaboratively with the multi‑disciplinary team and undertake duties without direct supervision.
- Maintain high standards of patient care using evidence based practice within an ophthalmic setting.
- Undertake specific ophthalmology investigations once competency achieved.
- Assist in the clean room during intravitreal sessions.
- Carry out phone and pre‑operative assessments for patients listed for ophthalmic surgery.
- Provide nursing support for emergency and general ophthalmology clinics.
Desirable Qualifications:
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
