Job Overview

Applications are invited for the post of Building Craftsperson within the site based Estates Operational Maintenance team.

Join a team committed to creating a safe, comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors, where your skills directly support frontline care. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring all essential services are maintained, enabling clinical departments to focus on delivering excellent patient treatment while meeting all statutory and regulatory requirements.

You will take ownership of a diverse range of maintenance tasks, applying your expertise to fault‑finding and repair of key building elements, including fire doors, locks and security systems, roofing, windows, and leaks, as well as contributing to minor developments and broader building works. Using your ability to accurately interpret drawings and plans, and your knowledge of current building regulations, you will deliver high‑quality workmanship across a variety of disciplines, bringing a flexible, multi‑skilled approach to every challenge.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will work closely with Maintenance colleagues and officers, interpreting and acting on technical instructions to deliver high‑quality work. You will carry out tasks with care and consideration, ensuring patients and those nearby are aware of any disruption or noise, minimising distress and maintaining a professional, reassuring presence at all times.

You will operate essential woodworking machinery safely and respond promptly to maintenance needs, delivering work efficiently and to a high standard. You will help maintain stock levels through effective requisitioning, contribute to minor development projects within agreed timescales, and demonstrate flexibility by supporting teams across multiple sites when required, including at short notice.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
