Permanent full-time Band 2 Medical Laboratory Assistant post within the Pathology Reception team of the Blood Science Department at Bronglais Hospital, Aberystwyth. The post is 37.5 hours per week with a working pattern of Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and handle samples.
  • Enter patient details into the Laboratory computer system.
  • Transport samples to laboratory areas.
  • Act as first point of contact for patients and nursing/medical staff (both face-to-face and by telephone inquiries).

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Full in-house training will be provided upon commencement under the direction of the Pathology Reception Team Leader.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Keyboard and computer skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as work alone and use own initiative.
  • Desirable: ability to speak Welsh; English and/or Welsh speakers are welcome.
  • Desirable: ability to communicate in Welsh; non‑Welsh speakers may receive learning support during employment.
