An opportunity has arisen for a qualified and registered Art Psychotherapist to join the Palliative Care team in Ceredigion. The role aims to provide face to face and online Art Psychotherapy intervention to Palliative Care patients, carers and family members and to accept referrals from diagnosis to end of life. The position offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified practitioner with some experience in Bereavement and End of life.

Main duties of the job:

  • Delivering one to one and group Art Therapy sessions to adult service users and their adult carers/family members.
  • Evaluating and implementing high quality specialist Art psychotherapeutic work including:
  • Providing an efficient, effective comprehensive psychodynamic Art Psychotherapy service, for adults who have diagnoses of life-limiting illnesses and onwards to the end of life.
  • Assessing and formulating therapy plans, including working with anticipatory grief, and limited bereavement support where necessary.
  • Referring on to relevant services as needed.
  • Developing and co-ordinating the Art Therapy service in Ceredigion.
  • Contributing to the ongoing programme of training for staff arranged by the palliative care team.
  • Supervising Art Therapy students.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification:

  • Postgraduate qualification in Art Therapy to Master’s level or equivalent which includes creative processes working with group dynamics, psychodynamic processes within the creative therapeutic relationship.
  • State registered Art Psychotherapist with HCPC.
  • Knowledge of legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to the client group.
  • Good knowledge of relevant theories, practice and research in the fields of psychodynamic art therapy and ability to apply them to relevant work situations.
  • Registered with BAAT and abides by BAAT's Code of Ethics.
  • Experience/qualification demonstrating evidence of service development.
  • Experience of working with adult patients and their families in Palliative and End of life care.
  • Experience of working with life limiting illness and loss.
  • Experience of providing and receiving supervision.
  • Able to travel.
  • Able to work from home.
  • Flexible approach to the needs of the service.
  • Welsh Speaker (Level 1).

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

£48,527 to £55,532 a year per annum pro rata.
