Job Overview
Fixed‑term secondment vacancy until 31 July 2027, requiring agreement from your current manager if you are an existing Hywel Dda University Health Board employee. The role is for a Speech and Language Therapy Associate Practitioner (Speech and Language Therapy Assistant) supporting the Flying Start and Families First programme in Ceredigion.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to early‑years settings, helping pre‑school children aged 0–5 develop speech, language and communication skills.
- Assist Speech and Language Therapists with training and upskilling families, pre‑school staff and other professionals.
- Embed training resources within the settings, playing a role in the development of new educational materials and clinic‑based resources.
- Engage in reflective practice, offering constructive feedback to Therapists on clinical and non‑clinical observations.
- Work across a variety of settings, including client homes, nurseries, schools, clinics and non‑maintained environments.
- Collaborate within a multi‑agency model, liaising with families, pre‑school staff and other Health Board colleagues.
- Apply information‑technology skills to support training resource development and record management.
Qualifications
- Relevant experience working with children aged 0–5.
- Experience working with children with Additional Learning Needs is highly desirable.
- Excellent time‑management, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Creativity, confidence to support others and empathy towards children and families.
- Ability to provide reflective and constructive feedback to Speech and Language Therapists.
