Breakbulk (events) are the world’s leading events in the project cargo and breakbulk industries. The Breakbulk portfolio is made up of four events happening in the Middle East, Europe, America and Asia, that are recognised for bringing thousands of companies together to network, connect, and generate new business and strengthen existing relationships. It is a place where industry decision makers can connect to support the completion of global projects. Not just trade shows, but all Breakbulk events offer live content, education.
A bit about the role
The Senior Content Manager is responsible for shaping and delivering world‑class content programmes across the global Breakbulk portfolio. You will curate high‑impact content that drives registrations, attracts senior industry audiences, and positions Breakbulk as the go-to platform for insights, inspiration, and industry progress. From the main stage to side stages, workshops, executive summits, Women in Breakbulk programming, and awards, you will create fresh, differentiated, and game‑changing content formats that elevate the attendee experience and drive audience growth. This role exists to deliver content that people choose to attend – programmes that are relevant, bold, thought‑provoking, creative, and rooted in industry need.
As part of your job, you’ll be:
- Content Strategy & Planning: Develop content strategies that support event goals and drive registrations. Use research and industry insight to define themes, trends and new formats. Align closely with marketing and editorial teams to ensure content fuels campaigns and meets audience needs.
- Programme Curation: Curate compelling programmes across the Main Stage, side stages, workshops, executive summits, Women in Breakbulk and awards. Ensure all content is fresh, relevant, high‑impact and audience‑driven.
- Speaker Recruitment & Industry Alignment: Lead speaker sourcing and agenda development, securing high‑calibre, diverse contributors. Work with Advisory Boards and industry partners to validate direction and ensure relevance.
- Audience & Registration Impact: Create content that inspires people to register and attend. Experiment with new formats and storytelling styles to improve impact. Collaborate with marketing to turn content themes into strong promotional messages.
- Project & Budget Management: Oversee content delivery to deadline and budget. Work cross‑functionally with marketing, editorial, sales and operations to ensure seamless planning and execution.
- Onsite Delivery: Manage onsite content execution across all stages, ensuring exceptional speaker experience and session delivery.
- Team Leadership: Line manage two team members, fostering creativity, collaboration and high performance.
Here’s what we’re looking for from you
Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in conference production, content development, editorial leadership or related fields. Demonstrable experience creating agendas or content formats that drive audience acquisition and engagement. Experience working closely with marketing and editorial teams to ensure content is aligned with campaigns, messaging and audience needs.
Skills & Attributes: You want to make a difference by doing things differently – curious, creative and open to new ideas. Strong strategic thinking combined with operational precision. Excellent research, insight gathering and narrative-building skills. Confident stakeholder manager able to collaborate effectively with senior leaders, internal teams, advisory boards, speakers and partners. Thrives in a collaborative environment – enjoys working cross‑functionally with both marketing and editorial to align outputs and maximise content impact. Strong communicator with excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. Comfortable with change and energised by experimentation.
