A bit about the role

This role is responsible for supporting the growth, engagement, and retention of Mining Indaba’s global investor community, while building and maintaining strong relationships across the global mining finance ecosystem. The role plays a key part in ensuring the investor community is highly engaged, well represented, and continues to grow year on year. Acting as a key point of contact for investors, the successful candidate will ensure a seamless pre‑event experience through proactive communication, registration management, and targeted outreach campaigns. In addition, the role supports the development of investor-focused digital content throughout the year by helping secure high-quality speakers and contributing to year‑round investor engagement initiatives.

  • Investor Community Acquisition & Growth
    • Support with execution of the investor acquisition strategy to achieve and exceed annual attendance targets
    • Grow and maintain the investor database through targeted prospecting, third‑party data sources and relevant data platforms
    • Identify and engage prospective investors through direct outreach and working with in‑house marketing team and external partners
    • Contribute to investor audience growth initiatives through data‑led targeting, market intelligence and proactive relationship development
  • Investor Relationship Management
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with global and African investor groups, including bankers, brokers, fund managers, private equity firms, analysts, sovereign wealth funds, and institutional investors to ensure event attendance and future engagement
    • Attend industry events to represent Mining Indaba within the global mining investment community
  • Investor Pre‑Event Engagement
    • Manage and track investor registrations, ensuring data accuracy and reporting
    • Act as a key point of contact for investor queries relating to registration and participation
    • Provide pre‑event support to investors through proactive email and telephone outreach
    • Work closely with the marketing team to deliver investor-focused digital communications and outreach campaigns that drive awareness, conversion and retention
    • Support the Head of Investor Strategy in identifying and profiling investors for year‑round digital content, helping deliver key parts of the investor programme, and enhancing the investor experience before and during the event.
    • Work as part of the onsite delivery team to support the Business Matchmaking Programme, including concierge‑style support for top‑tier investors
    • Source market intelligence, trends and stakeholder insights from the investment ecosystem to help shape conference content and commercial offering
    • Support the content team in identifying, securing and onboarding high‑quality speakers from across the global mining finance and investment community
    • Assist in the planning and delivery of year‑round investor‑focused events and sponsored activations

Here’s what we’re looking for from you:

  • Experience working within event management, international conferences or investor summits
  • Experience in mining, commodities, financial services, or investment sectors and existing network within investment, banking, or institutional capital markets communities is beneficial
  • Excellent relationship‑building skills with the ability to engage senior‑level stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to distil complex information clearly and persuasively
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
