The event model connects buyside and sell side through pre‑screened investment meetings supported by industry‑rich conference content and a weekly industry news platform, The Assay, that covers trends in metals and mining investment. 121 sits within the Energy Transition division of Hyve alongside sister brand Mining Indaba, the largest industry conference and exhibition held annually on the African continent.

Role

The Investor Acquisition Manager leads the delivery of the investor acquisition and engagement strategy across 121’s series of events in the APAC region. Reporting to the Head of Investor Strategy, the role requires a fast‑paced individual who can confidently drive forward the strategy to reach and engage new investor audiences within key regions, driving registration and participation in our events throughout the year.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and target potential investors through various channels, including direct outreach, industry events, share register analysis and partnerships.
  • Build compelling relationships with investors to aid retention and future growth.
  • Work closely with marketing to maintain a robust pipeline of investors, qualify leads, and manage the quality of registration and retention.
  • Lead on delivering events in multiple locations across the year; from investor onboarding activities, meeting planner launch, team updates, investor communications and onsite or online event delivery.
  • Oversee on‑site investor queries, meeting changes, updating schedules.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure corporates have the most engaging meeting schedule possible.
  • Forecast and report on meeting fulfilment, identifying risks and opportunities to hit and exceed targets.
  • Establish service level agreements with the commercial team on meeting fulfilment for corporates.
  • Oversee setup of meetings planner from the investor perspective, ensuring it is fit for purpose and optimised to deliver return on investment.
  • Assist the team with investor follow‑up telephone calls.
  • Maintain high‑standard customer onboarding processes.
  • Support clients with roadshows and other ad‑hoc requirements.
  • Work closely with content and marketing teams to inform campaigns for investor acquisition across all brand products.
  • Work closely with sales to ensure investor acquisitions align with the commercial goals of the business and support Investor Engagement contract extension conversations.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong understanding of the global investor landscape in mining / commodities industry and the ability to adapt communication to serve different investor segments.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, global environment with a diverse team.
  • Sector‑related experience gained within asset management, corporate access or a large listed company is advantageous.
  • Conduct and feedback on sector research specific to the range of products within 121.
  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with clients and investors.
