The event model connects buyside and sell side through pre-screened investment meetings supported by industry rich conference content and a weekly industry news platform The Assay that covers trends in metals and mining investment. 121 sits within the Energy Transition division of Hyve’s alongside sister brand Mining Indaba that is the largest industry conference and exhibition held annually on the African continent. The role
The Investor Acquisition Manager role leads on delivery of the investor acquisition and engagement strategy across 121's series of events in the APAC region, and rolling subscription product throughout each year. Reporting into the Head of Investor Acquisition and Engagement, the role will require you to be a fast-paced individual, able to confidently drive forward our strategy to reach and engage new investor audiences within key regions to drive registration and participation in our events throughout the year.
The investor acquisition manager will seek out new investors, and onboard them to our programme of events, driving high attendance and participation rates. Alongside attracting new, they will maintain existing investor audiences, encouraging them to return and take a high volume of relevant meetings. This role focuses on driving the investor audience growth while keeping its highest quality by identifying, targeting, and securing new institutional investors (e.g., pension funds, hedge funds, family offices), debt investors and high-net-worth individuals to ensure corporate mining clients have access to new potential investors globally. This individual will work closely with the wider investor acquisition team, senior leadership, and marketing, sales, content, product and operations teams to ensure alignment with portfolio’s overall growth objectives.
Responsibilities
- Targeting, Engagement and Relationship Building: Identify and target potential investors through various channels, including direct outreach, industry events, share register analysis and partnerships. Build compelling relationships with investors to aid retention and future growth. Work closely with marketing to maintain a robust pipeline of investors, qualify leads, and manage the quality of the registration and retention.
- Meeting fulfilment: Oversee, forecast and report on meeting fulfilment, identifying risks and opportunities to hit and exceed targets. Establish service level agreements with commercial team on meeting fulfilment for corporates. Oversee set up of meetings planner from investor perspective, ensuring its fit for purpose and optimised to deliver ROT.
- Investor Engagement fulfilment: Assist the team with investor follow up telephone calls. Ensure customer onboarding processes are maintained to a high standard. Support clients with roadshows, amongst other ad hoc requirements.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with content and marketing teams to inform campaigns for investor acquisition across all brand products. Work closely with sales team to ensure investor acquisitions align with the commercial goals of the business. Additionally, work closely with sales team to ensure Investor Engagement contract extension conversations are booked and supported with sales presence.
Skills & Experience required
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Strong understanding of the global investor landscape in mining/commodities industry and ability to adapt communication to serve different investor segments.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and deadlines.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment with a diverse team.
- Sector related experience gained within asset management, corporate access or a large listed company is advantageous.
- Conduct and feedback on sector research specific to the range of products within 121.
- Develop and nurture strong relationships with clients and investors.
