A bit about the role
We are seeking a strategic, results-driven Senior Content Marketing Manager to lead our digital content strategy and drive engagement across our Retail Portfolio, building and delivering an always-on plan. You will play a critical role in crafting compelling content, creating opportunities for engagement and building meaningful connections within our community. With responsibility for delivering on both revenue and visitor targets, you will have a proven track record running campaigns across multiple channels on time and within budget, and experience of developing team members to achieve personal and company goals.
As part of your job, you’ll be:
- Digital Content Strategy & Audience Growth
- Develop and execute a data-led content marketing strategy to drive audience acquisition, engagement, and retention across all digital platforms.
- Lead SEO, search authority, and content performance strategies to increase organic traffic, enhance search visibility, and improve audience engagement metrics (time on page, bounce rates, conversions, CPA, and downloads).
- Identify key audience segments and develop targeted content that resonates, nurtures leads and drives conversion.
- Own the content calendar, ensuring a steady stream of high-value digital content (articles, reports, guides, video, white papers, thought-leadership pieces, social content) that supports both audience engagement and commercial objectives.
- Content Performance & Optimisation
- Leverage data and analytics to continually optimise digital content and audience engagement strategies.
- Set and track KPIs for content performance, audience engagement, and lead generation, ensuring continuous improvement through data insights.
- Collaborate with the Central Marketing Team to ensure that paid, owned, and earned digital channels are fully optimised for content distribution and performance.
- Social Media & Digital Engagement
- Develop and implement the social media engagement strategy for Retail, increasing audience reach and interaction across key platforms including conversions.
- Work closely with event marketing and digital performance teams to execute campaigns that drive organic and paid social engagement.
- Oversee social listening and audience insights to refine content strategies and ensure relevance to our key buyer and exhibitor audiences.
- Website & Digital Asset Management
- Lead website content strategy in collaboration with the web team, ensuring all event websites are updated with compelling, SEO-driven, and conversion-focused content.
- Work with the event marketing and creative teams to create impactful digital assets that support audience acquisition and exhibitor engagement.
- Partnership & Content Development
- Oversee the acquisition and execution of high-quality digital content from media partners, press, associations, and membership bodies.
- Identify new partnership opportunities that enhance brand reach and thought leadership positioning.
- Leadership & Team Management
- Manage and mentor the Marketing Executives – Content, ensuring best practices in digital marketing, content creation, and audience growth.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders across marketing, commercial, and digital teams to align content strategies with business OKRs.
- Campaign & Budget Management
- Work with the Head of Marketing to plan and allocate budgets effectively, ensuring that content marketing efforts deliver measurable ROI.
- Ensure all content marketing activities are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with broader Retail OKRs.

- Proven marketing experience
- Proven team management skills as well as cross departmental project management.
- Proven experience in testing, adapting and improving customer journeys across all marketing channels, alongside the setting of key metrics.
- Evidence of relationship building across industry partners.
- Experience in managing budgets, forecasting and setting budgets.
- The ability to be agile, changing strategies and tactics when needs to be changing markets and producing new reactive ad hoc campaigns.
- Proven experience overseeing the management and performance of multiple marketing channels.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience managing a high workload across multiple channels and being able to prioritise and work at pace.
- Experience in reporting and high level analysis.
