Job Purpose

The Business Development Manager is responsible for maximising new and used car sales through the Kia UK franchise network by promoting Kia Finance products and services within a designated region, West Midlands to North Wales. The primary purpose of the role is to work under the direction of the Sales Director for Kia Finance, collaborating with multiple Kia dealers in the region to enhance sales performance using Kia Finance offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Dealer Management: With line manager guidance, develop sustainable, profitable relationships with allocated dealers, ensuring compliance with regulations, monitoring product mix, cancellations, complaints, and promoting profitability through finance products. The role also involves integration with OEM and dealer activities, conducting regular finance and insurance reviews, and managing wholesale exposure by monitoring dealer performance.
  • Planning: Create quarterly activity plans detailing call schedules and focus areas based on strategic goals and finance and insurance review outcomes, with actions recorded in the HUB system.
  • Budgetary control: Deliver the annual sales plan aligned with volume and profit targets through continuous review and monitoring of regional opportunities and costs in coordination with line management.
  • Establish strong working relationships with dealers and Kia UK counterparts at appropriate levels within the region.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Director to identify, plan, deliver, and review coaching and training sessions aimed at maximising dealer performance for both new customer acquisition and renewals.
  • Develop a strategy to maximise support to Hyundai Capital by increasing loyalty, volume, and reducing the trade cycle, based on understanding dealer support levels.
  • Competitor Activity: Provide regular feedback on competitor activity both regionally and nationally to aid in campaign and strategy development. Maximise customer renewal programs such as Kia Renew by ensuring timely dealer activity and providing accurate feedback. Assist in shaping these programs through regular input to Marketing and line management.
  • Risk and Compliance: Identify risks, incidents, and breaches according to company policies, ensuring all activities meet legal, regulatory, and business compliance standards. Motivate dealers to maintain compliant sales processes with a focus on Treating Customers Fairly, adequate product explanations, regulated complaint handling, and other compliance tasks.
  • Other: Perform additional reasonable tasks as requested.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the captive motor-related financial services industry or motor manufacturer sales and marketing environment.
  • A consistent record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Proven account management skills.
  • Ability to negotiate and influence at all organisational levels.
  • Knowledge of legal, regulatory, and compliance issues related to customer data and Treating Customers Fairly principles.
  • Appropriate education or related professional qualifications.

Remuneration and Benefits

  • The position requires a full driving license and domestic travel, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Competitive base salary ranging from approximately £45,000 to £50,000, depending on experience / expertise.
  • Eligibility for a performance-based bonus through a sales incentive scheme.
  • Company car provided.
