This role is both strategic and operational — balancing hands-on project leadership with mentoring and governance oversight across Hythe’s growing portfolio.
The Senior Project Manager will:

- Drive consistent application of project management principles.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to Project Managers and Junior PMs.
- Embed Hythe’s cultural values within every project environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead multi-project delivery, ensuring alignment with Hythe’s strategic growth roadmap and client frameworks.
- Take full commercial, contractual, and operational responsibility for assigned projects.
- Develop project execution strategies that optimise margin, schedule, and quality.
- Oversee contract terms, change control, variations, and milestone reviews.
- Lead project reviews — focusing on cost performance, risks, and value delivery outcomes.
- Coach and mentor PMs to strengthen planning, communication, and reporting discipline.
- Foster collaboration between delivery, engineering, and commercial teams.
- Build and sustain long-term relationships with key Defence and Nuclear clients.
- Support bid/tender activities and continuously improve project management processes.
- Report regularly on project health using Hythe’s dashboards and governance tools.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience managing projects within Defence or Nuclear sectors.
- Strong understanding of NEC3/4 contracts and project management frameworks (Prince2, APM, PMP).
- Proficiency with project planning tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, Primavera P6).
- Demonstrated experience in risk management, project financials, and reporting.
- High attention to detail with the ability to solve problems under pressure.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Solid understanding of industry regulations and safety standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical or business field (or 10+ years’ experience in a similar role).
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Self-motivated, with proactive planning and time management capabilities.
- Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving ability.
- Commercially aware with experience in quality assurance and continuous improvement.
