The Role
Are you an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in delivering complex engineering projects? We’re seeking a driven and organised individual to join our team and take ownership of project planning and execution across our key sectors including defence and nuclear. In this role, you’ll manage projects from tender through to close-out, ensuring delivery on time, on budget, and in line with our quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities
- Take commercial and operational responsibility for assigned projects
- Manage project delivery following Hythe’s quality and health & safety systems
- Oversee contract terms, variations, and milestone payments
- Proactively manage project costs and profitability
- Lead risk identification and mitigation activities
- Coordinate with procurement to ensure efficient purchasing
- Ensure accurate and timely engineering documentation is produced
- Support junior project managers and promote a collaborative team environment
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients
- Support tendering activities and contribute to continuous process improvement
- Maintain detailed project records and update CRM systems accordingly
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical or business field
- Proven experience managing projects within Defence or Nuclear sectors (at least 3 years)
- Strong understanding of NEC3/4 contracts and project management frameworks (Prince2, APM, PMP)
- Proficiency with project planning tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, Primavera P6)
- Demonstrated experience in risk management, project financials, and reporting
- High attention to detail with the ability to solve problems under pressure
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Solid understanding of industry regulations and safety standards
