  • Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M to 2:30 P.M.

Job Summary

This is a Chrome Plating Operator position in our Chrome Plating department. Employees in this position will process parts through the processing tanks. Plating Operators will be required to join the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program. The Plating Operators perform operations in accordance with Military and OEM specifications. FAA DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program requires an initial drug test including a screen for THC, subject to quarterly Drug & BAT testing.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with other Operators and Department Leads to complete work and prioritise tasks.
  • Follow technique card, customer Purchase Orders, and instructions from other Operators and Department Leads; legibly sign off on work once completed and Operator Self Verification inspection has occurred.
  • General review of paperwork and Operator Self Verification inspection of job to ensure all previous operations were completed. Notify supervisor and Quality Assurance if any errors.
  • Prepare parts prior to operations including mechanical or chemical cleaning; use proper tooling and fixtures, when applicable.
  • Knowledge of pre and post cleaning surface finish requirements.
  • Familiar with Quality Assurance requirements & rework procedures.
  • Familiar with engineering drawing notations.
  • Follow safety precautions to avoid preventable injury to self and other personnel.
  • Develop new product processing and identify areas for improvement.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities to drive positive change in productivity, delivery, and service.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment and annual physical Chromium exam and spirometry exam; ability to wear a respirator.
  • May need to participate in annual Hearing Conservation testing and Eye Exams.
  • Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, including safety glasses, goggles or face shields, aprons, boots, gloves, and other PPE based upon requirements in working area.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and positively influence others.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work both independently, as a team, and with customers (both internally and externally).
  • Excellent accuracy with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position.
  • Ability to learn and use Lean Tools and techniques to solve tactical and strategic problems and issues arising in this position.
  • Must have a regular and dependable attendance record.
  • Ability to Read/Write/Communicate in English and calculate basic math formulas.
  • This position requires access to export-controlled information and all applicants must satisfy U.S. export control regulations with authorisation to work in the U.S. Non-U.S. persons would require an export license in order to work in our facility.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements

  • 1-2 years in aerospace and/or manufacturing production environment a plus.

  • Ability to carry 63 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to push/pull 59 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to stand and walk frequently.
  • Ability to sit occasionally.
  • Ability to reach from the shoulder and overhead occasionally and from the waist frequently.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, crawl occasionally.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders occasionally.
  • Ability to push/pull frequently.
  • Ability to pivot, twist, pinch occasionally.
  • Ability to grasp frequently.
  • Ability to see/hear/feel constantly - hearing protection may be required when working in the area.
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and fumes from metal finishing chemicals. Temperatures in the work environment can fluctuate with outside weather conditions. Due to the manufacturing environment, Personal Protection Equipment is required including safety glasses, goggles, aprons, rubber boots, gloves, and respirator (provided by Company).

Salary Range for position: $18.50 - 28.00 per hour *DOE. Hourly rate above $21.00 per hour is dependent upon number of years of chrome plating experience coupled with highest education achieved.
