We currently have an outstanding opportunity for a Application Engineer at our facility located in Craigavon, Northern Ireland. Alternatively, this position may also be based in Irvine, Scotland or in Masate, Italy.

The main purpose of this position is to understand customer needs to define the right solution with the best value proposition to win new business while working closely with Product Management, Marketing and Sales teams.

Appointment between SG18 (Application Engineer I) and SG21 (Application Engineer IV) will be dependent on knowledge and experience. The successful candidate could therefore be at an early stage in their career, with a desire to learn and develop, or someone experienced in an engineering or technical role, with a passion for excellence in customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Responding to new sales technical support requests via Contact Management or NOVO CPQ within set KPI’s, maintaining and updating the status of all requests in line with relevant procedures.
  • Providing timely and accurate special quotations and technical support to Internal Sales teams and our Dealer partners in response to customer requests, RFQ’s and/or tender requests.
  • Managing the pricing and availability of special SPED sales options and quoted items on Hyster/Yale product, maximising profitability on special options and quotes while maintaining overall competitiveness of truck sales.
  • Defining the right truck for the application through customer visits and assessments on-site and/or evaluating customer applications and providing special options to meet customer requirements.
  • Guiding sales staff to specify and sell the appropriate truck for a given customer application.
  • Providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Identifying changes to reduce special option cost and increase profit margin/efficiency.
  • Truck capacity calculation and advice relating to the correct size/model of truck for any given customer application.
  • Support marketing and promotion of special SPED solutions to increase the sale of HYMH Product.
  • Making recommendations to the Product Manager for future standard product improvements and innovations.

Qualifications

  • Ideally candidates will have a Degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline. Candidates educated to HND level (or equivalent) in an Engineering related discipline with additional relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Experience required for this position is 5+ years (Application Engineer IV) but suitable candidates with less than this will still be considered and the seniority of the appointment adjusted accordingly. Any relevant experience must include working in a technical role.
  • Excellent communication skills, along with strong customer service and/or customer management skills.
  • Fluency in English is essential, fluency in another European language desirable.
  • Awareness of international cultural differences and/or experience working in an international business environment.
  • Microsoft Office skills including the ability to create spreadsheets, reports, analyse data and make recommendations based upon this.
  • Commercial awareness and fundamental financial knowledge and/or experience of working with sales and engineering functions.
  • Some business related travel will be required.
