HYROX is a global sports event series that combines running and functional fitness training in a unique race format. Founded in Germany in 2017, HYROX has evolved into a worldwide fitness movement with events across five continents, attracting tens of thousands of athletes every season.
To support the continued growth of HYROX in the UK & Ireland, we are looking for a dynamic Event Workforce Manager to lead and develop the UK & Ireland Event Workforce function, including line management of the Event Workforce Coordinator. This is a highly operational, hands-on leadership role combining strategic workforce development with excellent event execution. Based in London, you will report to the Global Senior Event Workforce Manager and travel regularly to oversee large-scale events across the region, building a high-performing community of head judges, judges, volunteers, freelancers and staff.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Programme Growth and Community Building: Drive the strategic expansion of the Event Workforce Programme across the UK & Ireland through targeted local recruitment strategies and partnerships with universities, fitness communities, and sports clubs.
- Retention and Progression Pathways: Build and maintain a sustainable community of volunteers, Judges, and Head Judges, while developing clear progression pathways, reward initiatives, and recognition systems to boost long-term commitment.
- Event Planning and Budgeting: Lead comprehensive workforce planning, forecasting, and budgeting for all assigned events, managing personnel scheduling and rosters through the global Volunteer Management System (VMS).
- On-Site Operations and Leadership: Oversee the end-to-end workforce execution on race days, serving as the primary point of contact, delivering engaging pre-event briefings, and managing team check-in, deployment, uniform distribution, and welfare.
- System Administration and Compliance: Manage the regional implementation and day-to-day administration of the Rosterfy platform and ensuring strict alignment with global operational frameworks.
- Safeguarding: Maintain a safe, inclusive and positive workforce environment, ensuring compliance with safeguarding requirements, the Code of Conduct and all relevant Event Workforce policies.
- Training and Continuous Improvement: Deliver onboarding and continuous training for Judges and workforce leaders, tracking performance metrics to produce structured post-event reports that optimize future operations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal departments including Race Directors, Operations, and Commercial teams, as well as the Global Event Workforce team to ensure seamless event delivery.
- Managing Relationships: Manage relationships with staffing agencies, ensuring quality, compliance and appropriate workforce coverage while identifying opportunities to reduce reliance on external staffing.
YOUR PROFILE
- Experience: 4+ years in workforce, volunteer, or event operations management, with a proven track record in delivering premium, large-scale mass-participation sporting events.
- Leadership & Agency Management: Substantial experience managing and scheduling large, diverse teams of volunteers, paid staff, external agencies and freelancers.
- VMS Proficiency: Hands-on experience administering workforce management systems like Rosterfy (or a similar VMS) is essential.
- Skills: Strong organizational, planning, and budget management skills alongside excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Flexibility: High flexibility and readiness for regular weekend travel to events across the UK & Ireland. Knowledge of the functional fitness community is a strong plus.
