The Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator will support the delivery of effective communication and community engagement activities across project operations. The role will focus on building positive relationships with local communities, clients, project teams, and external stakeholders while ensuring timely, accurate, and professional communication throughout the lifecycle of the project. The successful candidate will help promote the organisation's reputation by supporting stakeholder engagement initiatives, managing community communications, and contributing to positive project outcomes and social value objectives.
Responsibilities
- Support the planning and delivery of stakeholder engagement strategies designed to strengthen relationships with local communities, businesses, clients, and project stakeholders.
- Assist with the organisation and coordination of public consultation events, community meetings, stakeholder forums, and engagement activities.
- Develop and distribute project communications, including notifications of upcoming works, project updates, and community information materials.
- Work collaboratively with project teams and clients to ensure site communications, branding, signage, and public information displays remain accurate and consistent.
- Coordinate and monitor responses to public enquiries, complaints, and stakeholder feedback, ensuring all matters are managed professionally and resolved in a timely manner.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal departments, client representatives, community organisations, local residents, and media contacts.
- Ensure all engagement activities and communications align with company and client communication protocols and standards.
- Support the preparation of positive news stories, project updates, and case studies for internal communications, external publications, and future business opportunities.
- Maintain organised records of engagement activity, stakeholder interactions, and communication outputs.
- Manage and update photographic records of project progress and community activities.
- Assist with the collection, monitoring, and reporting of stakeholder engagement metrics and KPI data.
- Identify opportunities for community investment, educational outreach, charity partnerships, and social value initiatives linked to project activities.
- Coordinate engagement activities with schools, local groups, and community organisations to support positive local impact and sustainability objectives.
- Contribute to the delivery of environmental and sustainability initiatives, including activities linked to project assessment frameworks and community benefit programmes.
- Support the implementation of proactive engagement plans that enhance stakeholder relationships and promote positive project perception throughout delivery.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience in stakeholder engagement, community relations, communications, public affairs, or a similar coordination role.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience supporting community consultation events, public engagement activities, or project communications.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, professional, and audience-appropriate materials.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Ability to handle enquiries and complaints professionally and sensitively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with maintaining communication records and reporting data.
- Experience within construction, infrastructure, engineering, or project-based environments would be advantageous.
- Awareness of social value, sustainability, and community investment principles is desirable.
- Proactive, approachable, and able to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
