Hyreus is recruiting for an experienced HVAC & Commercial Gas Service Engineer to join a reputable OEM, covering customers and sites across the West Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled service engineer with a strong HVAC background and the relevant FGAS and Commercial Gas qualifications to work on a range of commercial and industrial equipment.
The role will involve servicing, maintaining, fault-finding and repairing a range of HVAC systems, including chillers, air handling units (AHUs) and air source heat pumps (ASHPs), alongside commercial gas equipment. You will work directly with customers and site teams, providing a professional and reliable service while representing a well-established OEM within the industry.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance, servicing and reactive repairs on HVAC and commercial gas equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and refrigeration faults.
- Work on chillers, AHUs, ASHPs and associated HVAC systems.
- Carry out service and maintenance activities on commercial gas equipment.
- Complete fault-finding and diagnostic work to identify the root cause of system issues.
- Ensure equipment is operating safely, efficiently and in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
- Complete commissioning, testing and performance checks where required.
- Respond to breakdowns and provide effective technical solutions.
- Liaise professionally with customers, site teams and other engineers.
- Complete service reports, job sheets and maintenance records accurately.
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with relevant health and safety requirements.
- Follow OEM procedures, technical documentation and manufacturer specifications.
- Identify potential equipment issues and recommend appropriate remedial works.
- Support customers with technical advice and guidance where required.
- Manage a regional workload across the West Midlands while maintaining high standards of customer service.
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience as an HVAC Service Engineer or similar field-based engineering role.
- Strong commercial or industrial HVAC experience.
- Experience working on chillers, AHUs and ASHPs.
- Valid FGAS qualification.
- Commercial Gas qualifications/tickets.
- Strong mechanical and refrigeration fault-finding skills.
- Good understanding of HVAC systems, controls and associated equipment.
- Experience working directly with customers and site-based teams.
- Ability to diagnose faults efficiently and provide practical solutions.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Well organised with the ability to manage a busy field-based workload.
- Comfortable working independently while also supporting wider engineering teams.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
- OEM or manufacturer experience would be advantageous.
- Relevant HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical engineering or gas qualifications would be beneficial.
