We're building Hyphen's AI unit from scratch. This is the first hire. You'll set the technical foundations — the architecture, the standards, the way we build — across a portfolio of global education companies. Everything that comes after depends on getting this right.
What Hyphen Is
Hyphen is a portfolio of global education companies spanning international education and AI skills — INTO, INTO Qualifications, iO-Sphere, Nurture Higher Education, The AI Board, and more in the pipeline. We have big ambitions. We're building new businesses, launching new products, and transforming how our companies operate — and we're doing it fast.
What You'll Do
- Lead the technical delivery of Hyphen's new AI unit — the team responsible for building new products and businesses across the portfolio.
- Set the architecture and standards that make it possible to build fast without cutting corners on security, scalability, or reliability.
- Be the human gate on anything touching auth, payments, or personal data — you decide what ships.
- Work directly with group leadership and AI Builders to design and build new products from scratch.
- Make sure everything we build can scale — not just today but as the portfolio grows.
Who We're Looking For
- Senior full-stack engineer who builds with LLMs — not just prompts them.
- Security-aware; you know what production-readiness means and you don't cut corners.
- Comfortable working autonomously and willing to push back when the technical direction is wrong.
- You've shipped things that real people use.
- You haven't come from a large org where security, infra, and architecture were someone else's problem — you've owned all of it.
