Responsibilities

  • Support the development, coordination, and implementation of research activities across SMU's university-level research institutes.
  • Conduct literature reviews, landscape scans, benchmarking, and background research to support research strategy development, faculty initiatives, and proposal preparation.
  • Assist in the preparation and refinement of research proposals, concept notes, presentation materials and reports.
  • Support faculty engagement activities, including coordinating meetings, workshops, seminars, and research-related discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support stakeholder engagement and collaboration with public agencies, industry partners, and academic collaborators.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Reporting Officer and/or Vice Provost (Strategic Research Partnerships).

Qualifications

  • Candidates with prior experience as a Research Assistant, Research Associate, or in research/project support roles within universities or research institutions will be preferred, but not strictly necessary.
  • A Master's degree with 3 years' work experience, or PhD, in Social Sciences, Economics, Public Policy, Business, Psychology, Urban Studies, or a related discipline is preferred, but not strictly necessary.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and synthesis skills, including the ability to prepare research summaries, reports, and presentation materials.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, including experience supporting meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Ability to engage and coordinate effectively with faculty members, researchers, and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in supporting or drafting research proposals, grant applications, concept notes, or research reports will be advantageous.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work with a reasonable degree of autonomy.

  • Remuneration and appointment terms shall commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • SMU reserves the right to modify the appointment terms where necessary.
