About The Role And The Team

The HR Business Partner role is responsible for the HR support for specific business departments. The role leads general HR activities and people project implementation, focusing on people management capability and employee lifecycle. The role supplements the support the People Services Team offer by providing HR professional judgement to the whole range of key employee lifecycle demands across various employee and managerial levels. The role represents a proactive, solution-based asset to the business and supports building a strong People Team identity and furthering its credibility in the business.

What will you be doing?

  • Organisation Design (including career pathways) – Advise the business on basic OD principles (role design, spans/layers) to ensure consistency and appropriate controls are in place
  • HR Information System knowledge – Carry out basic people data analysis in order to help inform decisions.
  • Management (law and policy) – Provide professional advice on basic employment law and local policies and apply them appropriately.
  • Employee movement (absence, sick, leave) – Help the business take corrective actions based on employment movement stats and trends.
  • Performance Management – Support managers follow the performance management cycle and assist in result analysis and subsequent actions.
  • Development (pathways, coaching) – Create and advise on development and career pathways within the supported departments.
  • Talent management (critical players, succession, hypo, dev) – Support the critical role/player analysis as part of the talent management process, initiate mitigating actions on succession and development plans for high potential candidates. Competent around 9‑box grid and similar tools.
  • Employee Relations – Support and advise managers through the ER processes.
  • Support with Interviews
  • Lifecycle (Onboarding & Exit) – Support onboarding and exit processes.
  • Projects and improvement – Support on business improvement projects on an ad‑hoc basis
  • Reward – Support the reward function & Infrastructure leadership team with bonus and pay review
  • Engagement – Support with the Great to Place to Work survey action planning

What We Are Looking For

  • HR Business Partnering or HR Advisor experience
  • Communication / Stakeholder management – Manage stakeholders ensuring timely briefings and proactive contribution. Support the change management process and communicate and embed key messages.
  • Proactivity / CI / Change & Transformation – Provide ideas and views as to how HR can better serve the business and support subsequent change through basic project management and organisation.
  • Coaching / Advisory – Support and steer People Managers using insight and professional knowledge.
  • Analytics and reporting – Provide accurate reports and analysis as necessary to help inform and support actions.
  • Business awareness / Commercial acumen – Provides advice in the context of business and divisional dynamics (how we make money, results (KPIs) and relevance). Manage local budgets as necessary.
  • Personal qualities desired: Resilient, curious, organized, confident
  • Previous wider HR experience including L&D, ER, HR Shared services at same level or below
