Our client is a growing technology business looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead their engineering team from a North West base. This is a leadership role that combines people management with technical direction, ideal for someone who wants to shape how a good team builds and ships software.

You'll manage and mentor a team of developers, set the technical standards, and work closely with product and senior stakeholders to deliver the roadmap. Day to day, you'll own delivery across the team, guide architecture decisions, and keep quality high, while staying close enough to the code to make sound technical calls. It's a strong opportunity for an established lead or manager ready to take full ownership of a team in a modern, TypeScript-first environment.

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience leading or managing software engineering teams
  • Strong technical background in TypeScript, as this is a TypeScript house
  • Experience building and running cloud native systems, AWS/Azure/GCP
  • A track record of delivering quality software in a modern, agile setting
  • Good communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
  • A real interest in developing people and building strong teams

What's on offer:

A salary of £85,000 to £90,000 plus benefits, hybrid working based in the North West, and the chance to lead and shape a growing engineering team. You'll work with a modern tech stack in a business going through a high growth stage, that values quality, collaboration and progression.

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Hyperloop Recruitment uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines.
