Team: Sales & Marketing

Location: Paddington, London

Employment status: Full-time, Permanent

Reporting to: Head of Brand and Communications

Working week: Monday-Friday

About The Role

This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who thrives at the intersection of media relations, exec profiling and thought leadership in the technical B2B category. You'll be an important part of a small, senior team with daily access to our business leaders and decision-makers, translating a complex proposition into narratives that land with decision makers: C-suite, CTOs, and Heads of Retail, Business and Wealth banking at Tier 1-2 banks. You’ll own delivery across earned media, executive platforms and content, coordinate a retained PR agency, and help drive profile ‘moments’ in the calendar, around events, reports and client announcements. You’ll work directly with our executive spokespeople and be trusted to exercise senior editorial judgement.

What You'll Do

  • Media relations. Build and own relationships with fintech, banking and business press, podcasts, analysts and opinion leaders. Manage reactive and proactive press, act as a credible day-to-day contact for journalists and develop Hyperlayer into the media’s go-to industry voice on modern banking technology.
  • Executive profiling and thought leadership. Develop and ghost-write op-eds, bylines and LinkedIn content for our executive voices. Run the executive profiling programme – strategy, cadence of thought leadership/op-eds.
  • Content and narrative. Maintain message discipline and attribution rigour across everything we publish, and keep proof points, data and third-party claims accurate and signed off.
  • Campaign and report launches. Plan and execute integrated launches including flagship research reports sequenced around anchor events and client news.
  • Agency and partner management. Own the day-to-day relationship with our retained PR agency: brief, prioritise, quality-control and hold delivery to standard.
  • Multi-market coordination. Adapt the core narrative into market cuts (US, UK, EMEA, Hong Kong), managing cross-market timing and the regulatory framing each market requires.
  • Measurement. Track engagement and coverage, report clearly on what's working, and use the data to decide where to invest.
  • Internal comms. Work closely with the Chief of Staff on our internal comms programme, helping keep the team informed, aligned and engaged.

Qualifications

  • Substantial comms experience (typically 6+ years) in B2B with a depth of knowledge in banking, fintech, payments, or enterprise/regulated technology. You understand how banks buy, decide and speak.
  • A strong writer who can make a technical, infrastructure-led story compelling without over-simplifying it. You can ghost-write convincingly in someone else's voice.
  • A confident, well-networked media operator with existing relationships across fintech and financial trade press.
  • Comfortable working with senior execs - you bring judgement, not just execution.
  • Experience managing external agencies and holding delivery to a high bar.
  • Attention to detail: attribution discipline, data sign-off - getting the detail right in a regulated context.
  • Self-directed and decisive. You prefer making clear go/no-go calls and prioritise consolidated, high-quality outputs over volume.
  • UK English fluency and a sharp eye for line-level editorial detail.
  • Confident working with AI tools to improve efficiency, planning and outputs.

Nice to have

  • Experience with executive social (LinkedIn) programmes and ABM-adjacent amplification.
  • Exposure to US and EMEA markets.
  • Familiarity with AI/agentic-commerce themes; event-led PR (Finovate, Money20/20 and similar).
  • Internal comms experience (ideally partnering with leadership on employee-facing programmes).

We will not be offering UK work visa sponsorship for these roles. Candidates will need an existing non-sponsored right to work in the UK.
