What we're looking for
The Assistant Management Accountant provides essential accounting support within the Finance team, helping to deliver accurate financial reporting, maintain strong financial controls and meet monthly, quarterly and annual reporting deadlines.
Working alongside more senior finance colleagues, the role supports management accounting activities, reconciliations, ledger management and financial analysis while developing professional accounting knowledge through study towards a recognised qualification.
This is a full-time, permanent role based in Milton Keynes, following a hybrid working pattern of 3 days in the office.
- What you'll be doing
- Produce monthly management accounting and reporting information in line with agreed timetables.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances, issues and outstanding items.
- Post journals into the general ledger and reporting systems, including intercompany and recurring transactions.
- Calculate and maintain accruals and prepayments to support accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and issue sales ledger invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
- Support the preparation of VAT returns and provide information required for tax reporting activities.
- Deliver ad hoc management reporting and financial analysis to support business decision-making.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure company systems are updated appropriately.
- Develop and update process documentation to ensure procedures remain accurate and current.
- Build effective relationships across Finance and wider business teams to support high-quality service delivery.
- What qualifications we're looking for
- Experience gained within an accounting, finance assistant, accounts assistant or trainee accounting environment.
- Exposure to management accounts preparation, journals, reconciliations and month-end processes.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel, including formulas, analysis and data presentation.
- Ability to maintain accurate financial records and work to strict reporting deadlines.
- Experience supporting internal stakeholders and responding to finance-related queries.
- Understanding of financial controls, compliance requirements and professional standards.
- Experience following documented processes and contributing to process improvements.
Qualifications
- Part qualified Studying towards ACCA, CIMA, ACA or another recognised professional accounting qualification, or a recent graduate with a degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Good numerical, analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
