Looking for more than just work experience? If you're curious about how global businesses manage risk, make strategic decisions and build powerful industry partnerships, this could be the perfect way to spend your summer. Join Howden Re's Market Engagement & Strategy team and discover how they manage strategic relationships across the reinsurance market. This is not a traditional broking role. It's a relationship-focused and strategic role which combines communication, organisation, project support and data analysis.

The 10-week programme is designed to give you meaningful exposure to the world of reinsurance, while helping you develop the knowledge, professional skills and confidence to kick start your career. Better still, our programme offers a direct pathway into our Autumn 2028 graduate roles, subject to business needs and individual performance.

What you'll be doing?

  • You will begin with a structured induction before joining the Market Engagement & Strategy team to work alongside experienced specialists on real client projects.
  • During the programme, you'll:
    • Take part in meetings with reinsurance companies and learn how our team manages relationships with them.
    • Learn how the team gathers financial data and market feedback from internal brokers and translates this into useful market insights for senior stakeholders.
    • Support with preparing materials for internal and external presentations.
    • Play a key role in preparing for the Monte Carlo Reinsurance conference which will include support with arranging meetings, capturing key discussions and producing clear notes to share with the wider business.

Who are we looking for?

  • No insurance experience is needed; we'll teach you everything you need to know!
  • You will be in your penultimate year of study from any degree background.
  • Someone who enjoys building relationships and communicating with a wide range of people.
  • Willing to contribute your thoughts and ideas during team discussions.
  • Organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to take ownership of tasks and work independently.
  • Comfortable working with basic data.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in fast-paced environments where priorities can shift.
