We’ve been exclusively retained to support Arenko Group to hire a Non-Executive Chair. Arenko is a leading provider of battery optimisation software, accelerating the transition to a zero-carbon grid. With a best-in-class SaaS platform and deep domain expertise in grid-scale energy storage, they help asset owners and traders unlock the full value of energy assets — supporting performance, flexibility, and the broader energy transition. Backed by highly engaged investors, led by a visionary founder, and after a recent new investment, they’re at a pivotal scale-up stage: growing commercial traction, shaping new strategic partnerships, and preparing for the next phase of growth. They’re now seeking a Non-Executive Chair to support them on that journey.
The Role
This is a high-impact opportunity for a Chair who brings not only governance experience, but the strategic, commercial, and relational strengths to actively support a growing business. While technically non-executive, this isn’t a passive governance role. You’ll act as a mentor to the CEO (Rupert Newland), a catalyst for commercial development, opening doors and conversations, and a strong voice on strategic direction and board effectiveness. You’ll also bring credibility, connections, and clarity of thought — someone who can help close major deals and shape product-market fit.
What We’re Looking For
- Energy Industry Leadership
- Executive or board-level experience in power markets, grid-scale storage, or trading
- Strong network across major utilities and energy players
- Track record of supporting or scaling energy transition businesses
- Leadership or Chair experience in enterprise B2B or infrastructure-focused SaaS
- Strength in product strategy, pricing, and go-to-market execution
- Experience mentoring founders through growth and complexity and product development
Chair Responsibilities
- Mentor and challenge the CEO as a strategic sounding board
- Open doors and help close deals across energy or SaaS verticals
- Lead an effective board with clarity and cohesion
- Support future fundraising or strategic partnership and JV opportunities
- Help guide the business toward a successful exit
Additional Notes
- You’ll be the only independent seat on a board of committed investors and founder representatives
- This is a semi-active role — you’ll need to be hands-on when needed
- We value high-quality thinking and impact, and welcome diverse backgrounds and perspectives
- If you’re an experienced board leader with a passion for clean energy, digitalisation, and founder-led scaleups — we’d love to hear from you.
