Core focus of the Assistant General Manager – Build-to-Rent

As the Assistant General Manager, you’ll work closely with the General Manager to oversee all aspects of the property’s daily operations. Your responsibilities will be broad and varied, focusing on both the commercial performance and the community feel of the development.

Day-to-day of the role

  • Operational Management: Assist in the day-to-day management of the BTR asset, ensuring smooth and efficient operation of all services, including maintenance, housekeeping, and facilities.
  • Team Leadership: Support, coach, and motivate the on-site team (e.g., maintenance, resident services) to deliver outstanding service and achieve performance targets.
  • Financial & Commercial: Help manage the property budget, monitor financial performance (occupancy, arrears, revenue), and assist with reporting to ensure optimal asset performance.
  • Resident Experience: Be a key driver in fostering a strong sense of community. Oversee the delivery of high-quality resident services, manage move-ins/outs, and handle complex resident inquiries and issues to ensure high retention rates.
  • Leasing & Marketing Support: Support the leasing process, ensuring swift turnaround of available homes and assisting with marketing initiatives to drive traffic and meet occupancy goals.
  • Compliance: Ensure the property adheres to all relevant legislation, health & safety standards, and company policies.

  • Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of property financials, budgeting, and revenue maximisation.
  • Customer Focus: Exceptional interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for delivering world-class customer service and building communities.
  • Organisation: Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
