Core focus of the Asset Manager

As the Asset Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic management of the organisation’s housing stock, ensuring that assets are maintained, compliant, and delivering long-term value. You will oversee investment planning, building safety, and lifecycle management while driving data-led decisions that support the organisation’s strategic objectives.

Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will lead on asset performance analysis, sustainability, and capital investment programmes to ensure homes meet evolving standards and residents’ expectations.

Day-to-day of the role

  • Develop and implement the organisation’s Asset Management Strategy to ensure a sustainable and compliant housing portfolio.
  • Oversee planned and cyclical maintenance programmes, ensuring effective use of budgets and alignment with long-term investment plans.
  • Manage building safety and compliance across key areas including fire, gas, electrical, water hygiene, asbestos, and lifts.
  • Analyse stock condition data and asset performance to inform investment priorities and option appraisals.
  • Lead on energy efficiency and decarbonisation initiatives to support net-zero targets.
  • Manage contractor performance, procurement, and quality assurance processes to ensure high standards of delivery.
  • Produce regular reports for senior management and the board, providing insight and assurance on asset performance and compliance.

Skills you need

  • Proven experience in asset management within social housing, property, or estates.
  • Strong understanding of housing compliance, building safety, and investment planning.
  • Excellent data analysis, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience leading teams or projects focused on planned maintenance or capital investment.
  • Relevant qualifications in building surveying, property, or asset management (e.g. RICS, CIH, IWFM, or equivalent).
