We’ve partnered with fast-growing lifestyle brand Eleanor Bowmer, who are now looking to secure a Head of Commercial Finance to support the next phase of growth. We’re looking for a commercial, hands-on finance leader who can operate at the centre of the business - driving better decisions, improving margins, and building the financial foundations required to scale. If you’ve operated as a number one in finance (or close to it), and enjoy building structure in fast-moving DTC brands - this could be the role for you.
Eleanor Bowmer is a fast-growing Manchester-based home & gifting brand, built on bold design, colour and creativity. Founded by designer Eleanor Bowmer, the brand started as a textile and illustration studio and has grown into a recognised lifestyle brand - known for its hand-painted prints, playful patterns and feel-good products. Everything is designed to bring joy, confidence and personality into everyday life - from statement homeware to gifting and accessories. The brand has built a strong DTC presence alongside wholesale partnerships with major retailers, and continues to scale at pace.
Now entering its next phase of growth, the focus is on building a more structured, commercially-led business to unlock further scale.
Role Overview
As Head of Commercial Finance, you will sit at the centre of the business - owning financial performance and driving commercial decision-making. This is a build + transform role, focused on:
- Creating financial structure and visibility
- Improving margin and cost efficiency
- Supporting smarter commercial decisions
- Setting the business up to scale
You’ll work closely with the Founder and wider leadership team, acting as a key operator across the business.
Main Responsibilities
Commercial Finance Leadership
- Own the P&L and overall financial performance of the business
- Partner with Product, eCommerce and Operations to improve outcomes
- Act as a key commercial decision-maker across the business
Cost, Margin & Efficiency
- Deep dive into cost structures across 3PL, suppliers and operations
- Identify opportunities to improve margin and reduce inefficiencies
- Bring greater visibility across stock, spend and profitability
Planning & Forecasting
- Own budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
- Build models to support growth decisions and investment
- Provide clarity on future performance and risk
Business Partnering
- Work closely with the Founder and Heads of
- Challenge thinking and provide clear commercial direction
- Translate financial data into actionable insights
Building the Function
- Develop and improve finance processes and reporting
- Move from reactive reporting → proactive commercial finance
- Build out the finance function over time as the business scales
Expectations
- Comfortable operating as the senior finance lead in a lean business
- High bias for action - not just reporting, but driving change
- Strong commercial instinct and decision-making ability
- Able to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders
- Thrives in fast-moving, founder-led environments
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong commercial finance background (DTC / retail / consumer preferred)
- Experience operating as a #1 finance lead or senior finance partner
- Proven experience in:
- P&L ownership
- Budgeting & forecasting
- Margin optimisation
- Cash flow and stock management
- Comfortable building processes in scaling businesses
Bonus if you have:
- Experience in gifting / lifestyle / consumer brands
- Exposure to multi-channel businesses (DTC + wholesale)
- Experience supporting business scale from £5m–£20m+
Salary & Benefits
