About Hyperexponential (hx)

At hyperexponential, we're building the AI‑powered platform that enables the world's most critical decisions in a £7 trillion industry. Our platform brings together data, AI, and human expertise to give insurers the fastest path from submission to decision - helping them move faster, act smarter, and take on more risk with confidence.

About The Platform Team

The Platform at hx builds the foundations that enable hx engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable software at speed. The team owns the internal platform experience across cloud infrastructure, deployment tooling, CI/CD, observability, and developer workflows.

As a Platform Engineer, you’ll contribute directly to the evolution of the platform, partnering closely with software engineers and senior platform engineers to improve developer experience, experiment with AI‑enabled workflows, and deliver pragmatic solutions that scale with the organisation.

What you'll be doing:

  • Building and maintaining reusable Infrastructure as Code modules and self‑service platform capabilities.
  • Contributing to AI‑enabled developer workflows across CI/CD, operational tooling, and automation.
  • Delivering secure, scalable cloud infrastructure aligned with platform standards.
  • Collaborating with product engineering teams to understand friction points and improve platform usability.
  • Monitoring and improving platform performance and operational efficiency.
  • Contributing to a culture of engineering excellence by sharing knowledge and participating in technical discussions.

What you'll need to have done:

  • Built and supported production‑grade cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tooling such as Terraform.
  • Delivered CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows.
  • Implemented secure infrastructure and operational best practices.
  • Contributed to platform, tooling, or developer experience initiatives.
  • Experimented with AI or automation tooling to improve developer workflows.
  • Taken ownership of well‑defined technical problems from implementation through to operational support.

You're unlikely to thrive here if:

  • You prefer executing predefined tasks over taking ownership of ambiguous problems.
  • You view platform engineering as building infrastructure in isolation rather than treating it as a product.
  • You're uncomfortable with rapid change and continuous improvement.

Compensation:

At hx, we're committed to salary transparency. We offer equity across all roles at hx, making it a significant component of total compensation.

Benefits:

  • £5,000 training and conference budget.
  • 25 days of holiday plus 8 bank holidays (33 days total).
  • Company pension scheme via Penfold.
  • Mental health support and therapy via Spectrum.life.
  • Individual wellbeing allowance via Juno.
  • Private healthcare insurance through AXA.
  • Income protection and Life Insurance.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme.

Additional perks:

  • Top‑spec equipment.
  • Regular remote and in‑person hackathons, lunch and learns, socials, and game nights.
  • Exceptional opportunities for personal development and growth.

Interview process:

  • Initial call with our Talent team (30 minutes).
  • Manager Interview (60 minutes).
  • Technical Assessment (system design whiteboard) (120 minutes).
  • Values Interview with Tech Leadership (60 minutes).
