Hi, I'm Tom Clark - CIO, CISO, and hx employee #9. I'm the executive in charge of our Systems & Security function. I joined in 2020 at seed stage, and I've been here through Series A, Series B, and everything in between - watching us grow from nine people to more than 250. I’m six years in, and I've never been more excited about what's ahead.
About hyperexponential (hx)
At hyperexponential, we're building the AI-powered platform that enables the world's most critical decisions in a $7 trillion industry: which risks to take, and how to price them. These are decisions that shape real-world outcomes - whether rockets successfully launch into space, autonomous vehicles make it to market, or communities recover after major storms.
Until now, insurance has been making billion-dollar decisions using outdated tools. We're changing that. Our platform brings together data, AI, and human expertise to give insurers the fastest path from submission to decision. We help them move faster, act smarter, and take on more risk with confidence.
About the SYSSEC team
hxOS is hx's internal operating system. It's the platform every person in the company uses and builds on: devices, meeting rooms, core applications, SSO, AI tools, data infrastructure, security and compliance. The Systems & Security (SYSSEC) team builds it, runs it, and keeps improving it. It'll never be finished. That's the point.
About the role
The Systems Associate is one of the most visible faces of SYSSEC. They're the first point of contact for everything coming into the team, and the work ranges widely: a day might move from troubleshooting a device, to helping a team get more out of a new AI integration, to contributing to a piece of infrastructure the whole company will rely on. What ties it together is ownership: of the service experience, of the queue, and progressively of the platform itself.
What you'll be doing
- Own the front door. Triage, prioritise, route, and keep stakeholders informed on everything coming into SYSSEC, applying an ITIL/ITSM lens to how work arrives, gets handled, and gets resolved.
- Improve the service, continuously. Look for recurring patterns, find root causes, and change the conditions that created them, through better templates, self-serve paths, proactive communication, and process work that makes repeat tickets rarer over time.
- Build things that reduce the work. Scripts, automations, integrations, paved-road workflows.
- Be a partner to the business. Help colleagues get more out of their devices, applications, and AI tools.
- Contribute to strategic delivery. Around 20% of the role is higher-leverage work: contributing to platform design, supporting infrastructure decisions, and building the technical foundations needed to take on bigger challenges over time.
What good looks like
- Reliable under volume. Owns a queue without being chased, keeps work moving and stakeholders informed.
- Builds rather than just processes. Comfortable writing scripts and configuring automations.
- Already AI-native, not AI-curious. Uses AI tools as a natural part of everyday work.
- Figures things out unprompted. Given a problem, researches it, tests it, forms a view, and comes back with a recommendation.
Why hx
You'll become hxOS's internal expert: the person colleagues turn to when they want to understand what's possible, get more from their tools, or work through something new. You're joining a generational business at a real inflection point.
