This field‑based role focuses on delivering high standards of on‑site service, preventive maintenance and responsive breakdown support, while ensuring accurate reporting and proactive planning.
You will work closely with the Service Coordinator and Service Management to keep service activity running smoothly—optimising visit scheduling, ensuring the right parts are identified in advance, and maintaining strong customer relationships across HPLC, GC, MS, and gas generator platforms.
- Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure the successful installation, servicing, maintenance and troubleshooting of supported analytical instrumentation to deliver consistently high customer outcomes.
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) at customer sites, ensuring correct planning and associated spare parts are in place.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment breakdowns at customer sites, following agreed processes for timely restoration of service.
- Conduct pre‑visit qualification calls to identify parts requirements for both PPM and breakdown activities, wherever possible.
- Complete accurate service reports for all service activity and own the problem through to resolution to the satisfaction of the customer.
- Role Requirements
- A degree or higher in a relevant field (e. g., Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Quality Assurance, Quality Management) with a strong science background, preferably chemistry/biochemistry and electronics.
- Proven knowledge of the operation, service, repair and requirements of analytical instrumentation, with a strong preference for chromatography (HPLC/UPLC/GC) and associated mass spectrometers.
- Demonstrable capability working with chromatography operating and data capture systems such as Chem Station, Clarity, Open Lab or Empower.
- Proven experience in analytical laboratory environments and excellent report‑writing skills, with strong time management and organisation of own tasks.
- Proven understanding of IQ/OQ/PQ (advantageous) and working to appropriate ISO standards, plus confidence in remote diagnostic and phone support.
- What’s in it for you
- 21 days paid holiday plus bank holidays
- Health insurance
- Company car
- Contributory pension scheme
- Work with a customer‑focused service team where proactive problem‑solving and technical excellence are highly valued
