Scientific Operations Manager to join their growing team in London. This is a hybrid role, where you will be required to spend 4 days on site per week and 1 day working from home.

This is a unique opportunity for a scientifically trained professional who is passionate about improving how research organisations operate.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will lead projects focused on laboratory systems, automation, workflows and operational infrastructure, helping to build the foundations that enable world-class science.

ROLE OVERVIEW

As Scientific Operations Manager, you will take ownership of a varied portfolio of operational improvement projects across the organisation.

Working closely with scientists and key stakeholders, you will identify opportunities for improvement, evaluate solutions, manage implementation and ensure successful adoption.

Projects are expected to include laboratory automation, sample tracking systems, compound management and wider scientific infrastructure initiatives.

Unlike a traditional project management position, this role will also involve ongoing responsibility for optimising and maintaining the systems and processes you establish.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your duties as the Scientific Operations Manager will be varied; however, the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Lead scientific operations projects from initial problem identification through to implementation and adoption.
  • Work closely with laboratory and operational teams to understand requirements and develop practical, scalable solutions.
  • Support the implementation and optimisation of laboratory automation, sample tracking and compound management solutions.
  • Establish, document and improve operational processes to enhance scientific effectiveness and organisational efficiency.
  • Monitor system performance, resolve operational challenges and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to develop the operational infrastructure required to support future organisational growth.
  • Translate ambiguous requirements into structured, deliverable projects and drive them through to completion.
  • ROLE REQUIREMENTS

To be successful in your application for this opportunity as Scientific Operations Manager, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

  • 1. Essential Experience
  • Degree-qualified scientist with a minimum of 3 years' experience within a laboratory, biotechnology, pharmaceutical or wider life sciences environment.
  • Experience delivering projects focused on laboratory operations, workflow optimisation, automation, sample management or scientific systems.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across scientific and operational teams.
  • Demonstrable experience implementing process improvements and driving change.
  • 2. Desirable Experience
  • Experience within a small or rapidly growing life sciences, biotechnology or drug discovery environment.
  • Knowledge of laboratory automation platforms, sample tracking technologies, inventory management or compound management systems.
  • Exposure to scientific operations, research infrastructure or laboratory systems implementation.
